How to test your microphone
- Tap Start mic test and allow microphone access.
- Speak, clap or tap near the phone — the bar should jump.
- Tap Record 5 sec & play back to hear exactly what your mic picks up.

Mic quiet or muffled?
- Blocked mic hole — the small hole on the bottom edge collects lint. Clean it gently with a soft dry brush, never a pin.
- Case or screen protector covering the hole — take the case off and test again.
- Water — let the phone dry for a few hours. If the speaker is also muffled, run the speaker cleaner.
- Permission — if the meter never moves, check that the browser has microphone access in settings.

Is my recording uploaded?
No. The test runs fully in your browser and nothing leaves your phone.
The meter doesn't move — is my mic broken?
First check browser permission and that no other app is using the mic. Then clean the mic hole and try again.
Which microphone does it test?
Usually the main bottom mic. Headphones or a Bluetooth headset will be used instead if connected.
Does it work on iPhone?
Yes, in Safari and Chrome on iOS 14.3 and newer.
